Our Twelve Windows

From dawn to dusk, in the darkest hour as well as in the brightest;
the House of God is the constant still-point in an ever-changing world of rush and change.
Standing in St Margaret's, you are surrounded by twelve beautiful stained glass windows depicting saints from the past. With the clock-style aerial view of the church below, you can view all twelve.

About St Columba:

Born on 7th December 521 of Irish royalty, Columba grew to be a bard and a priest who became an itinerant preacher and teacher throughout Ireland. He founded monasteries, performed miracles, and was the spiritual teacher of Saint Corbmac.

He was exiled to Iona, where he founded and led a monastic community there for 12 years. He and the monks of Iona, including Saint Baithen of Iona and Saint Eochod, then evangelised the Picts.

He died on 9th June 597 and is buried at Iona.
